Ohio Wesleyan University senior Nate Newman has been named the Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Newman received all-region honors in the heptathlon and the high jump after recording one of the region's top 5 performances in each event.
Nate will compete at the NCAA Division III championship meet in the heptathlon on Friday and Saturday. He won All-America honors with a fifth-place finish in 2017 and finished 11th in 2016 and 13th in 2015.
