Statewide Tornado Siren Drill this Morning

If you were wondering about the tornado sirens you heard this morning, a statewide tornado drill was conducted in Ohio this morning as a part of Severe Weather Preparedness week.

Sirens were activated just before 10:00 this morning, for three minutes. The tone used is the same one you would hear in an actual tornado warning.

The drill is part of Ohio's Spring Severe Weather Awareness week, March 18-24, to remind the public that with spring comes the possibility of tornadoes, thunderstorms, floods, hail, lighting strikes, and power outages.

And...as one EMA official puts it, the perfect opportunity for schools, businesses and families to discuss and practice their emergency plan.
