Well-Known Area Pastor Dies

A Chillicothe minister known to thousands of people around the state of Ohio and especially in Ross County, has died.

The Reverend Fred Fox died Tuesday night at OSU Hospital at the age of 69. Fox suffered a heart attack while attending an Easter morning service in Frankfort, just a few hours after delivering his final sermon at the First Wesleyan Church in Chillicothe.

Pastor Fox was well-known for his work throughout the community, especially his work with young people in many area schools over his 45 year ministerial career. All of his 45 years of ministry were spent at the First Wesleyan Church in Chillicothe. Fred Fox was also a regular attendee of the Ross County Fair, where for many years was a supporter of the Junior Livestock Sales, using money out of his pocklet to buy livestock from 4-H participants.

Fox also held a number of administrative duties in the Wesleyan Church at the district and state level over his career. Although he lived in Chillicothe throughout his ministry, he was a native of Coshocton, Ohio.

The funeral for Pastor Fred Fox will be 4pm Sunday, April 8th at the Southeastern High School Gymnasium. No calling hours will be observed.
