Pickaway Board of DD Promotes Inclusion with Spring Fashion & Art Show

The Pickaway County Board of Developmental Disabilities will bring the worlds of fashion and art together next month with an event meant to showcase the talents of those with and without disabilities.

The F.A.M.E. (Fashion, Art, Music & Entertainment) Spring Fashion and Art Show will take place, Saturday, May 19th.

"It's a fashion and art show with live music," says Pickaway County Board of DD Employment Navigator, John Joyce. "Our fashion models are comprised of individuals with and without disabilities and it's the same with the artists."

Many of the pieces on display during the event will be available for purchase.

"We have a room full of artists who have their artwork on display and it will be available for purchase," says Joyce. "All the outfits that are modeled during the fashion show come from local businesses here in Circleville. We partner with them to show off their spring and summer fashion lines."

The goal of the F.A.M.E. Spring Fashion and Art Show is to help raise and awareness and fight some of the false perceptions surrounding those with disabilities.

"Our goal is to bring awareness and inclusion to our community and let people see that just because somebody may have a disability, it doesn't make them any different from someone that doesn't have a disability and that we are all capable of doing the same things," says Joyce.

The F.A.M.E. Spring Fashion and Art Show will take place at 6:00 p.m. on May 19th at Rhoads Garden Center on State Route 56 in Circleville. It is free and open to the public.
