A Chillicothe man has been indicted by the Ross County Grand Jury on a single fourth-degree felony count of Receiving Stolen Property after he was caught driving a stolen vehicle in late February.
Christian M. Haubeil, 34, of Patton Hill Road, faces up to 18 months incarceration and $5,000 fine.
Haubeil was taken into custody on February 24th after a Cincinnati resident informed Lebanon Police that her vehicle had been stolen. The vehicle was tracked by OnStar to the Tanger Outlets in Fayette County and later in Chillicothe.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was able to locate the vehicle traveling along U.S. 35 in Ross County and the vehicle was then disabled remotely by OnStar.
Once the vehicle came to a stop, Haubeil was reported to have fled on foot into some nearby woods, but was soon apprehended.
Haubeil is also charged with a first-degree misdemeanor count of Failure to Comply which carries a possible penalty of 6 months and a fine of up to $1,000.
The Ross County Grand Jury were presented with, and returned, 24 cases during its Friday session with only Haubeil's case open to the public.
