Firefighters were called to a major fire in downtown Bainbridge early Tuesday morning.

A partial town block was involved- including a used car lot and a structure down the sidewalk from the Bainbridge Village offices. There were no reports of serious injuries and no cause yet for the blaze. One Facebook post called "Bainbridge Connections-Ross County", claims the fire was in the building that once housed Gragg's General Store, years ago.

Fire departments from several areas had been either called to the scene or asked to be on stand-by- including Ross, Pike & Highland and Fayette counties. The blaze was reported just before 3am.

Due to this morning's fire in Bainbridge, U.S. Route 50 will be closed until the scene has been cleared and it has been determined that it is safe to allow traffic to pass by the remaining structure. While the route is closed, local traffic will be detoured through the village, and heavy truck traffic will be detoured via S.R. 41 and S.R. 28.

Authorities believe Route 50 would remain closed until Wednesday.
