One Dead and Another Injured in SR 56 Crash

One person died and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Madison County. Officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Tricia Dyer, 22, of Springfield, was driving northbound along State Route 56 at around 10:30 p.m., Friday, when Ryan Pitt, 20, of London, turned left to go south on State Route 56 from a private drive.

Officials said Dyer went left of center to try to avoid a collision, but still crashed into the the right front of Pitt's vehicle. Dyer's vehicle reportedly deflected, went off road, hit a ditch, and overturned.

Authorities said Dyer was pronounced dead at the scene, while her passenger, Susan Miller, 44, of London, was ejected, suffered critical injuries, and was taken to a hospital.

Pitt was not injured, and Dyer and Miller were not wearing safety belts, according to the report.
