Detty Sentenced to 120 Days for Role in Death of Chillicothe Teen


A man charged in the death of a 17-year-old boy, found dead of alcohol poisoning in a yard off an east end ally way in Chillicothe last October, has been sentenced.


According to the Chillicothe Gazette, Chris Detty, 33, of Chillicothe, pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of failure to report a death and obstruction. A misdemeanor charge of abuse of a corpse against Detty was dismissed as part of a plea deal. He has been ordered to served 120 days in jail.


The charges and subsequent sentencing come after Jason Bartley, 17, was found dead in the backyard of an East Second Street home on October 18th of last year. Authorities said Detty had allowed a group a teenagers, including Bartley to consume alcohol in his home, and he was the reportedly the last person to have seen Bartley prior to his death. 


A second person in the case, Sandy France, 33, has already pleaded guilty to two third-degree felony counts of involuntary manslaughter. She is set for sentencing on July 30th.  Authorities say she supplied the alcohol that led to Bartley's death.
