Circleville Wins State American Legion Baseball Crown

The Circleville Post 134 Panthers won the Ohio American Legion Baseball Championship with 4-2 decision over Beverly-Lowell, Saturday night at Lancaster Al Beaver Stadium.

Circleville now heads to the Great Lakes Regional in Napoleon, Ohio as part of the National American Legion Tournament.

Circleville was unbeaten in the double elimination state tourney, going (5-0), with their two closest contests coming in both wins over Beverly-Lowell. They were 3-2 earlier in the week and 4-2 in the state final.

The Panthers beat Jefferson County 8-5 Saturday morning, giving them an unbeaten record heading into Saturday night's title game.

The state title is the first in recent memory for any Region 5 Senior Division American Legion team. Circleville's Junior Division team won the state title a week earlier.
