A Scioto County man died of a gunshot wound in Fayette County early Saturday morning.
According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, at about 2:35am a 9-1-1 call reported a subject with a gunshot wound at Lot number 2 in the Washington Mobile Home Park at 94 Jamison Road near U.S. 22 NW in Union Township, Fayette County.
Sheriff’s deputies and officers with the Washington Court House Police Department located 35-year-old Raymond E. Baker with a last known address of Portsmouth, Ohio, outside the residence with a gunshot wound.
Baker was transported by Fayette County EMS to the Fayette County Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead by Fayette County Coroner.
Sheriff Vernon Stanforth reports his detectives are being assisted by agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation & Identification and are continuing this active investigation to identify suspect(s) and establish a motive in this incident.
