Authorities have identified the body found in Paint Creek as 39-year-old Chillicothe man Joshua Whitaker. Captain Mike Preston, of the Ross County Sheriff's Office, confirmed the identification on Wednesday afternoon.
Whitaker's family reported him missing on August 8th after last seeing him leave his home near the east end of Chillicothe at around 3:30 a.m. on August 6th.
Construction workers discovered Whitaker's body under the Paint Creek bridge on U.S. 23 at around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
The investigation is ongoing, according to Captain Preston.
