Last year's popular Downtown Scarecrow Contest returns for a second run this year.
The contest is being conducted by Discover Hometown Chillicothe; a program operated by the Chillicothe Ross Chamber of Commerce. Briana Hood with the Chamber says, the contest will again this year be open to any downtown entity wishing to participate.
"We have three different categories," said Hood. "We have business, we have organization which is non-profits or civic groups, and we have an individual category."
Those wishing to participate in the now-annual contest can find an entry form online, as well as more information, at discoverdowntownchillicothe.com or in-person at the chamber's downtown office. Entries will be accepted through Monday, October 1st.
The Scarecrows will be on display from Friday, October 5th through Friday, October 27th.
"They will be on display through the day of the Halloween Parade," said Hood. On the day of the parade we'll take down the winners and put them in the parade."
Prizes will be awarded to the top three displays. The public will be able to vote for their favorite entry on the Discover Downtown Chillicothe Facebook page from October 5th to October 25th.
