A 5K fundraiser is set to take place at the end of the month ahead of October's National Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign.
The Pike Health Lifestyle Initiative will conduct its 4th annual Paint it Pink 5K on Saturday, September 29th.
The Pike Health Lifestyle Initiative is an area non-profit dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles through nutrition and physical activity. Clint Boggs is with the Initiative. He says the Paint it Pink 5K begins that Saturday morning at the Grace United Methodist Church in Waverly.
"Check-in for the race is at 9:00 a.m. with the race beginning at 10:00 a.m.," said Boggs. "It's pretty much just a race around Waverly which will end back at the Grace United Methodist Church."
50% of the proceeds raised during the event will help to fund the Pike Health Lifestyle initiative, with the other 50% going to Southern Ohio Medical Center's Breast Cancer Compassion Fund, which helps cancer patients with gas, groceries, and other non-medical expenses.
Online registration for the Paint it Pink 5K can be done at tristateracer.com or in-person at the Pike County Health Department, located at 116 South Market Street in Waverly.
"Registration before September 15th, which ensures a race t-shirt, is $20," said Boggs. "If you register on the day of the event, the entry fee increases to $25.
