The first phase of renovations to Chillicothe's historic Majestic Theatre will be unveiled to the public with a special ribbon cutting ceremony early next month.
A remodeling of the theatre's first floor lobby, concessions and newly renovated bathrooms will be showcased on Friday, November 2nd.
"The customer is going to see a new ticket window, a large lobby that will allow room for merchandise, and concessions," said Majestic Board Vice President, Melody Young. "There are also two new restrooms, which is probably the greatest addition to the Majestic. Guys won't have to been their head when they enter the men's restroom anymore."
The recently completed renovations represent the first phase of what is planned to be a four-phase project, which will move up from floor to floor with each successive phase. Melody says Capital Build Grant funding in the amount of $500,000 has already been secured for phase two, which will address areas of the theatre's second floor. She says that phase will get underway next year.
"We're hoping maybe early summer," said Young. That's our slowest time at the theatre and it's how we did this phase."
The November 2nd ribbon cutting ceremony will also be accompanied by a special concert at the Majestic that Friday evening.
"The night of the ribbon cutting, we will have concert with Craig Fuller," said Young. "He is the founding member of Pure Prairie League, and the writer of the song 'Amy'."
The 4:00 p.m. ribbon cutting ceremony is free to attend but tickets will be required for the 7:00 p.m. concert. Tickets can be purchased in advance for $20.00 and for $25.00 at the door on the night of the show.
