Chillicothe VA Medical Center Director Promoted


(Cincinnati VAMC) -- The Department of Veterans Affairs is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Murdock as the new director of the Cincinnati VA Medical Center, effective October 28, 2018.


“We are excited to bring Mark on board as the new director of the Cincinnati VAMC,” said Denise Deitzen, Acting Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 10 Director.  “Mark is an Air Force Veteran and has a proven track record of success at facilities across Ohio.  His sound leadership qualities and proven experience will be valuable assets to the Cincinnati VAMC’s employees, volunteers, and -- most importantly -- for the Veterans we are honored to serve.”


Murdock currently serves as the Medical Center Director at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center.  Murdock has also served as Associate Director of the VA Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio.  He is a native of Sackets Harbor, New York and is a graduate of Park University with a B.S. in Healthcare Management and holds a Master's Degree in Health Service Administration from Xavier University (OH).


Murdock’s VA career has included assignments as Health System Specialist, Surgical Service at the VAMC Dayton, OH; and as the Program Manager, VISN 10/11 Tele-Nurse Triage Program, Dayton, OH.  Before coming to the VA, following retirement from active duty, he worked for private sector companies and government contractors in the healthcare industry. Murdock retired as a Medical Service Corp (MSC) Officer from the United States Air Force in 1999. During his Air Force career, Murdock was assigned to Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton OH, Charleston AFB, SC, Misawa AB, Japan, and Aviano AB, Italy.


Murdock is board certified in healthcare administration by the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) in which he holds membership as a Fellow (FACHE), and is a member of the Greater Ohio Healthcare Leaders Forum (GOHLF) as well as a graduate of the 2012 VHA Healthcare Leadership Institute (HCLI).


 Vivian Hutson, the current Cincinnati VA Medical Center director, has been selected to lead the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center in Columbus, Ohio.  Columbus’ interim director, Dr. Marc Cooperman, will return to his position as Columbus’ Chief of Staff.  An interim director for the Chillicothe VAMC will be named in the near future.
