The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reports a man was killed early Sunday morning, believed to have been struck by a hit & run driver.
The Sheriff’s Office received a call from a passing motorist about 7:38am reporting a male subject in the ditch area in front of Heritage Memorial Church in the 1800 block of Old Route 35 NW.
Sheriff’s deputies, officers with the Washington Court House Police Department, and Fayette County EMS responded to the area and located the body of a deceased male. Detectives believe the man was struck by a hit & run driver while walking along the roadway.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. The identity is being withheld pending a positive identification and notification to the next-of-kin.
Members of the Detective Bureau and Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit are continuing their investigation.
