The Chillicothe High and Middle Schools were placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after staff members received notification that a gun may have been on school premises.
That message was received around 9:30 a.m. causing officials to immediately initiate a lockdown and contact local police.
The district says two unidentified juvenile students were arrested for fifth-degree felony possession of a weapon on school grounds after the weapon was found in one of the students’ lockers.
The two students were transported to the Juvenile Detention Center and are set to appear in Ross County Juvenile Court at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday. The district says two additional students are facing administrative discipline for their roles in the incident.
The schools were dismissed at 11:35 a.m. on Tuesday and an additional sweep of the building found no further weapons.
The district is helping police further investigate the incident.
