The Lancaster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred on SR 159 near milepost 5 in Fairfield County. The crash occurred on October 20th at approximately 1:58pm.
64-year-old Judy A. Bynum of Lancaster was traveling south on State Route 159 as 56-year-old Keith Carver of Stoutsville was driving his pickup truck north on SR 159 pulling a homemade utility trailer. The trailer of the Ford F-150 became unhitched and separated, crossing over the centerline and struck the car head on.
Mrs. Bynum succumbed to her injuries at the scene. 65-year-old Robert T. Bynum of Lancaster was a passenger in the car and was transported by Air Evac to Mount Carmel Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Carver and his passenger, 57-year-old Cathi J. Jago of Stoutsville were not injured. All occupants were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash.
Troopers from the Lancaster Post of the Highway Patrol along with Amanda, Hocking Township, and Clearcreek Township Fire and Rescue responded to the scene. Fairfield County Coroner Investigators also responded. The crash remains under investigation.
