(24/7 News) -- Officials with the Ohio Department of Health are confirming four cases of Acute flaccid myelitis or AFM in the state. According to the report released Monday- three of the cases are in other parts of Ohio but one has been found in Pickaway County.
AFM is a rare but serious condition which affects the nervous system and can cause paralysis. Symptoms of the disease begin with a mild fever followed by a respiratory illness with muscle weakness in the arms and mostly affects children under the age of 18.
