Bloom Carroll Cruises Past Unioto

Unioto had no answer for Bloom Carroll's high-powered offense, as the Bulldogs sailed past the Shermans Saturday in the Division 4 Regional Football Quarterfinal.

Bloom Carroll scored on the first play from scrimmage, as junior quarterback Otto Kuhns fired a 68 yard TD strike on a "flea-flicker" to Evan Willett for the game's first score and a 7-0 lead.

Seemingly before the knew what hit them, BC would score three more times in the first half for a 28-0 lead on two more Kuhns passes and a TD run.

The Shermans managed to gain their only score of the game, when they capitalized on a BC fumble at the 20 and scored 7 plays later on a Chace Smith 2 yard run, making it 28-7 at halftime.

The Bulldogs added a TD run and a 38 yard field goal to set the continuous clock in motion for the second half.

Bloom Carroll racked-up 407 total yards with 285 coming from a 16-20 passing performance, mostly from Otto Kuhns, who missed a couple of series with a twisted ankle. Kuhns three for three scores and ran for another.

Chance Smith rushed for 125 yards and a TD, which made up most of Unioto's 201 total yards.

Unioto Coach Jeff Metzler said he had more than one dozen players out with injuries for the game, with several being starters.

Bloom Carroll improves to (9-2) while Unioto drops to (7-4) and advanced to their third straight post-season appearance.
