ZT Halts Unioto SVC Record Win Streak

The Zane Trace Pioneers sent a message to the Scioto Valley Conference basketball world Friday as they put an end to the Shermans' 69 game SVC win streak with a convincing 69-50 win at Unioto High School.

Unioto's incredible 69 game win streak is an SVC boys basketball record, covering five seasons.

The Pioneers roared to a 9-0 start, only to see the Tanks rally to cut the margin to 11-10. That's when the Pioneers stepped on the gas as they went on an 18-0 run for a 29-10 lead. Zane Trace never led by less than double-digits the rest of the way.

The score by quarters were 23-10, 42-22 at half, 54-38 after three and 69-50 as the final.

Zane Trace had five players in the scoring column, led by Cam Evans' 25 points, 18 which came in the first half. Nick Nesser scored 14 of his 20 points in the second half. Triton Davidson and Colby Swain each scored 9 and Luke Johnson answered with 6.

Unioto had eight players in the scoring column, led by Chance Smith's 18 points, 14 of which came in the second half. Cade McKee scored all of his 10 points in the first half, Isaac Little had 9.

The Pioneers shot 51% from the field, going 23/45 and were 3/7 from the arc. They added 18/30 at the charity stripe and turned the ball over 5 times.

The Shermans were 18/47 from the floor at 38% including 7/22 from the arc. They added 5/9 from the free throw line and committed 14 turnovers.
