Deadlocked 31-31 at halftime, the Zane Trace Pioneers outscored the Adena Warriors 20-9 in the third quarter en-route to their 67-52 win in Frankfort, to remain unbeaten in the SVC as first round conference play concluded, Friday.
The Pioneers shot a sizzling 26/37 from the field for 70%, while also going 4/5 from the arc. The Warriors countered with a 20/45 night for 44%- including only 6/20 from the arc. ZT was 11/15 at the foul line and Adena 6/9.
ZT's rebounding edge of 24-14 was also a key.
Three Zane Trace players were in double figures- led by Colby Swain and Cam Evans with 17 each. Triton Davidson had a double-double of 12 points/11 rebounds and blocked 3 shots. Nick Nesser had 9 points and 7 boards, while Luke Johnson and Chad Ison each scored 6 points. Johnson was making his first appearance in a couple of weeks after an ankle injury.
Adena got 12 points each from Jarrett Garrison and Logan Bennett, with Preston Sykes adding 11. Zach Fout was held to only 6 points- which is 9 below his average. Caleb Fogelsong scored 5 points and Ethan Kunkel and Jacob Shipley each had 3.
Zane Trace committed 15 turnovers and Adena had 11.
Zane Trace improves to (7-0/10-2) and Adena falls to (6-1/7-3). The Pioneers are idle until next Friday when they host Unioto on 94 Country WKKJ.
Adena hosts East Clinton Saturday night.
