The Unioto Lady Shermans stretched their SVC basketball lead to two games over Huntington with five games to play, winning at Huntington Thursday 55-33.
Unioto grabbed a 18-9 lead after one quarter, but saw Huntington pull to within 18-15, before the Lady Shermans went on a 12-0 run to close the first half for a 30-15 advantage.
That lead expanded to 48-21 after three periods with a final of 55-33.
Unioto shot 22/42 for 52%- including 8/18 from the arc, while Huntington was only 11/29 for 38%- including 5/12 from the arc. Neither team shot well from the foul line, with the Lady Shermans 3/10 and Huntington 6/12.
Turnovers and rebounding were even, with the boards going 18-18 and turnovers mounting 10 for the Lady Huntsmen and 9 for Unioto.
Unioto was led by Emily Coleman's 19 points, with five treys in the contest. Cree Stulley added 11, Rilee Davis 8, Jocie Fisher 7 ad Alexis Miller with 6. Amber Cottrill and Paris Debord each pitched-in 2.
Huntington's Braiden Collins scored a "quiet" 11 points, well below her per game average. Allison Basye had 10 points and 8 rebounds. Katie Hirsch added 4, Megan Steele and Lillie Snyder 3 and Emily Haubeil with 2.
The Lady Shermans improve to (9-0/12-2) while Huntington drops to (7-2/10-5).
