Circleville Council Tours County Dispatch Center

Tuesday evening, Circleville Council toured the Pickaway County dispatching center.

The city of Circleville is considering combining their dispatching with the county, who has a state-of-the-art center that started up December 5th.

Pickaway County Sheriff Robert Ratcliff said the county commissioners helped put more than $500,000 into one of the most modern and advanced dispatch centers in Ohio. He said it was designed for the future, and for the possibility of combining with the city.

Ratcliff says they handle all law enforcement and emergency calls in the county, townships, and villages...except for police, fire department, and land-line 9-1-1 calls in Circleville. Adding that might require only one additional dispatcher.

They also have television news, monitor courthouse security, and assist with monitoring video of the county jail next door. The workstations are height-adjustable with individual climate controls to help with what can be a stressful job.
