Local State Rep Joins Effort to Improve School Bus Safety

(iHeart Media News) -- Two lawmakers, one Republican and one Democrat, are jointly introducing a new school bus safety bill at the statehouse.

-

State Reps Richard Brown, a Democrat, and Gary Scherer, a Republican, are seeking to crack down on drivers who pass a school bus with its stop arm activated. Brown and Scherer's bill would impose a one-thousand-dollar fine and or class five suspension of the violator's license over five years.

-

Current Ohio fines are capped at 500-dollars for an offense like that.
