Piketon Man Dies in Crash After Suffering Medical Emergency While Driving

Fomer Zane Trace Superintendent and former Piketon School board member Enest Hamilton is dead as the result of a single-vehicle crash on State Route 32 in Pike County.

According to the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers received a report of a one-vehicle crash near mile post 26, in the area of State Route 335. The crash took place around 8:55 a.m. Sunday.

On arrival at the scene, troopers found a 2015 Honda Pilot had driven of the roadway while traveling west along the route and collided with a tree.

The Pike County Coroner reports that 74-year-old Ernest Hamilton had suffered an unspecified medical issue which caused him to lose control of the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The patrol's report did not state if Hamilton died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash or if his death was a result of the medical issue. The crash remains under investigation.

Personnel from Beaver Township Fire, Pike County EMS, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, and the Piketon Police Department provided assistance at the scene.
