New Philadelphia outscored Zane Trace 20-10 in the fourth quarter to beat Zane Trace 50-43 in the Division 2 Regional Boys Basketball Semis at Ohio University, Wednesday night.

The Pioneers led after the first three periods, but not at the end where it mattered most. Zane Trace started quickly in taking a 7-0 lead and held their biggest lead at 13-5, before settling for a 15-9 advantage after one quarter. After both teams traded leads in the second quarter, the Pioneers held a 25-24 edge at halftime.

At the end of the third quarter, the Pioneers were up 33-30 and saw that lead increase to 37-30 early in the fourth, before the Quakers of New Philly went on a 10-0 run for a 40-37 lead. Zane Trace was able to get back into the lead only once- at 43-42, but New Philadelphia took the lead back and never trailed again.

New Philly shot 18/48 for 37.5%- including 4/19 from behind the arc. They added a stellar 10-13 at the foul line. Zane Trace shot 19/54 from the field for 35%- including only 1/14 from the arc and managed only going to the free-throw line 4 times, making each one.

Cam Evans led the Pioneers with 18 points while Triton Davidson added 12 points and 14 rebounds. Nick Nesser added 6 first half points, but was shut-out in the second half. Colby Swain scored 4 and Luke Johnson added 3.

The Quakers were led by Noah Begue's 16 points, with 12 coming from Nate Voll. Three other players each scored 6 and another with 4.

Zane Trace closes their season at (21-5) with an unbeaten SVC season and their first Sweet 16 appearance since 1970. New Philadelphia improves to (23-4) and faces Sheridan in the D-2 Regional Final Saturday, after the Generals blasted Steubenville 69-43.
