While the spring sports season is just getting underway, the end of Ohio's high school softball and baseball seasons are in the news concerning when their Final Four Tournaments will be played.

A decision by the OHSAA to extend the length of baseball season, as recommended by the state coaches association, now takes the Baseball Final Four a week later than usual. This year's tournament will be June 7th through 9th. That move in dates also created a scheduling problem for the Columbus Clippers and their home stadium "Huntington Park", which means the state tournament is being moved to Akron's "Canal Park" for the next two seasons.

The OHSAA State Softball Final Four will remain in their May 30th through June 1st dates at Akron's Firestone Stadium, meaning they will not be competing for attention with the baseball state tournament. While that was not the reason for the change, it does bring this benefit.

The concern for some high school baseball fans has been that their tournament is no longer in a central location. OHSAA officials claim the Akron Rubber Ducks Stadium site was the most suitable location they could find to host the Final Four for the next two seasons.
