(24/7 News) -- Officials say they have identified the person whose remains were found in a bag by mushroom hunters in Pike County this week.

The Montgomery County morgue conducted the autopsy yesterday and said the body was severely decomposed but they were able to confirm it as the remains of 36-year old Shane Walls who was last seen in December of 2018.

Walls' body was found in the area of Buchanan and Trego Road west of Waverly.

The cause of death remains under investigation, and Sheriff Charles Reader is asking anyone with information about the case to contact his office.
