Former Pickaway Educator Pleads Guilty to Sex Crimes Involving Student

A former high school teacher in Pickaway County has pleaded guilty to charges of sexual battery involving a minor.

In a release from Circleville Police on Thursday, former Logan Elm Schools educator, Daniel C. Jones is reported to have appeared in Pickaway County Common Pleas Court, Thursday morning.

Mr. Jones pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual battery involving a minor.

The case originated in February of 2018 the Circleville Police Department received information regarding a suspected sex offense involving a teacher and an underage student.

Mr. Jones was originally indicted on five counts of sexual battery and a single count of attempted sexual battery by the Pickaway County Grand Jury in December of 2018. That includes the three counts he pleaded guilty to on Thursday. He originally pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court has ordered a pre-sentence investigation to be conducted on Mr. Jones. He will be sentenced on June 26th in Pickaway Common Pleas Court. Each of the three counts against Mr. Jones carries a 60 month maximum jail sentence.

Once released, Mr. Jones will be required to register as a tier III sex offender for the remainder of his life.
