The repair and resurfacing of the Eastern Avenue Overpass in Chillicothe will take a little longer than expected.

In a release Monday from the Ohio Department of Transportation, officials from the District 9 office said the work has been delayed due to recent rains and the overpass, along with its on-ramp from U.S. 35 West, will remain closed through 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 14th.

Crews from the Shelly Company were scheduled to pave and stripe the bridge situated over U.S. 35 on Monday, May 13th, however, due to rain and colder temperatures, the project has been postponed.

While the overpass is closed, motorists will continue to be detoured into Chillicothe by way of the Main Street and Bridge Street exits.
