It'll be a mixture of dirt, dust and speed through the forests of southern Ohio this weekend as the annual Southern Ohio Forest Rally makes its return to the Scioto Valley.
-
Rally racers from around the globe will gather for the start of the two-day race on the banks of the Ohio River in Portsmouth on Friday.
-
"Friday we'll be in Portsmouth with the kickoff on Front Street," said Rally Chairman, Jeremiah Johnson. "Then we venture out into the Shawnee Forest. On Saturday, we kickoff in McAthur for the Zaleski stages, then we hit Scioto Trail and then Chillicothe on Saturday night."
-
Johnson says a special expose for the cars taking part in the rally will take place prior to the race on Thursday in Chillicothe's Yoctangee Park. That includes a car show near the ballfield at the water treatment facility at 6:00 p.m. and a light race of the cars through the park.

Spectators can view from the floodwall, and behind Chillicothe High School.
