Teen Charged After Leading Chillicothe Police on Alcohol Fueled Pursuit

A Chillicothe man has been charged after leading Chillicothe Police on a vehicle pursuit, early Wednesday morning.

According to a Chillicothe Police report, a patrol officer observed a black Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling south along Ewing Street with its head lamps off shortly before 1:30 a.m.

The officer attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle but it sped off. The officer gave chase and witnessed the suspect vehicle lose control and collide with a parked vehicle after turning east onto 5th Street.

The suspect vehicle continued along 5th Steet, turning north onto Sugar Street where it again lost control and ran off the road at the north end of the street.

The driver regained control once again and continued west onto E. 4th Street where the driver again lost control striking a second parked vehicle.

Again the driver continued on, turning south onto back onto Ewing Street where it collided with a third parked vehicle.

The suspect vehicle then turned west back onto 5th Street where it continued traveling at a speeds of 40-miles-per-hour without stopping for intersections, and still without active headlamps.

The driver again lost control of the vehicle for a final time while attempting to turn on Belleview Ave. where it stopped in a yard.

The driver then fled from the vehicle on foot, and was soon apprehended on West 6th Street by awaiting police.

The driver, 18-year-old Jaythen Lovins, was found to be intoxicated by alcohol. When asked by officers why he fled he stated he was very drunk. Lovins also informed officers he had stolen the truck, which was confirmed by a report made to police.

Lovins was transported to the Ross County Jail, charged with receiving stolen property, fleeing, underage consumption and OVI.
