Westfall & Wheelersburg Fall in District Finals

IRONTON 10, WESTFALL 0 (5 INNINGS)

Unbeaten SVC regular season champ Westfall, saw their promising post-season come to a screeching halt Saturday, as they were beaten 10-0 in five innings by Ironton.

Westfall, who has won 31 straight SVC Softball contests, was held hit-less until the fourth inning, as the Lady Tigers' Keegan Moore got the two-hit shutout victory.

Ironton scored two in the first inning, three in the third, then added five more runs in the fifth inning to win the game by the "mercy rule".

The Lady Mustangs conclude their (23-6) season as district runner-up.

LEESBURG FAIRFIELD 8, WHEELERSBURG 5

In a battle of top four teams in the state softball coaches poll, the #4 state ranked Leesburg Fairfield Lady Lions got their break-through victory in knocking-off #2 ranked Wheelersburg 8-5.

The Lady Pirates struck for three runs in the first inning, only to see the Lady Lions answer with three of their own in the top of the second to tie the game at 3-3. Burg took a 5-3 lead with scoring in the bottom of the second inning, but Fairfield scored twice in the top of the third for a 5-5 game.

.

That's the way the scoreboard stayed until Leesburg Fairfield scored a run in the top of the fifth for a 6-5 lead, then added two insurance runs in the top of the 7th and held the Lady Pirates scores in the home half for an 8-5 Division 3 District Title win.

Both Ironton and Leesburg Fairfield advance to the Regionals at Lancaster High School.
