Chillicothe Welcomes Newest Establishment, Go Free Yourself Escape Room

-

Chillicothe welcomed its newest recreational establishment on Tuesday with a ribbon cutting for a new escape room attraction located on the north end of town.

-

Matthew & Elizabeth Cordial are the owners and operators of the “Go Free Yourself Escape Room", located at 14 Health Drive, off Marietta Road.

-

Escape rooms, also referred to a escape games, have risen to a high level of popularity over the past few years, offering participants both a mental and physical adventure based game, in which players have to solve a series of puzzles or riddles using clues, hints and strategy in order to escape.

-

Up until now, interested players had to travel to a larger metropolitan area to find an event, but after experiencing several escape rooms, in and out of state, and loving them, the Cordials said they felt it was time to bring an ongoing escape room operation to the First Capital.

-

"I've been doing escape rooms for about three years," said Matthew. "We have enjoyed them every time. I figured Chillicothe could use some more entertainment in the area, so I decided to open one here."

-

Matthew says The Go Free Yourself Escape Room offers two scenarios players can experience. While participating, players are monitored via closed circuit camera.

-

"Currently we have two scenarios set up," said Matthew. "We have a Magic Room and a Gemstone Heist Room. Each of those has several different clues and puzzles that will lead you to solve the ultimate goal of getting out."

-

The new establishment celebrates its grand opening this weekend.

-

"We're trying to get as many people as can possibly have fun this weekend," said Matthew. "We will be providing refreshments and we really hope to see everybody here."

-

Bobbi Kellough is with the Chamber. She expressed great enthusiasm for the opening, saying it gives residents another option for family-friendly entertainment, close to home.

-

"We're so excited for Go Free Yourself to be here," said Kellough. "Before we always had to go to Columbus for things like this. Now families can enjoy a nice evening out with dinner, shopping and entertainment. We're super excited, not only for the business community, but for the community itself."

You can find more information about the Go Free Yourself Escape Room through their facebook page or website. There you'll find hours of operation as well as information on the different scenarios.
