The Willow Restaurant Catches Fire on Sunday

Washington CH firefighters responded to a fire at The Willow restaurant on Glenn Avenue, Sunday evening. The fire began in the kitchen at approximately 8:33 p.m., Sunday, and was under control by 9:47 p.m. Fire Chief Tim Downing said the fire appears to have been accidental.

"The building is saved," said Downing. "There's obviously going to be a lot of interior work that needs to be done to the structure to rehab it and bring it back to pace so that they can get the business open again."

The Willow is owned by local family Denny and Kelly Smith.

-

"Kelly and I'd like to thank all the firefighters and everyone who've shown their concerns for the fire," said Denny Smith. "We're just grateful for the outreach of support and help from everyone."

-

During the Fayette County Fair, The Willow staff will be operating out of the kitchen in the Mahan building as they have for several years.
