A Columbus-area restaurateur is bringing a taste of India to Chillicothe. The Taj Mahal Indian Grill is set to hold its grand opening in Chillicothe's Central Center this Friday.

The owner of the Taj Mahal Indian Grill, Mohammed Miah, has had a successful run for years in the Columbus area with his establishment, The New Taj Mahal, and now he's decided to bring authentic Indian cuisine to Chillicothe. We spoke to Miah's brother, Wasik Rahman, on Tuesday on why they chose to set up shop in the first capital.

"My brother actually has a pre-paid cell phone company in Chillicothe, and we've been there for about two or three years, we're going on our third year," said Rahman. "We love the environment there, and we love the people there, and the culture. But one thing I do miss is the food I'd eat at home and the closest [Indian] restaurant nearby is like an hour away, so we thought: hey, why not open an Indian restaurant here? So we're here to pretty much diversify Chillicothe with Indian culture, and the food."

Wasik says the Taj Mahal Indian Grill will promise authentic Indian cuisine, including menu items such as tandoori, curry, tikka, and much more.

"The item that stands out to me is the Tandoori Chicken," said Rahman. "But everything on the menu is great though."

The grand opening for the Taj Mahal Indian Grill takes place this Friday, July 26th.

"Our business hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for buffet, and then from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for dinner time," said Rahman. "But, because it's Friday and our special day, we're going to do a $9.99 all-day buffet from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. basically the whole menu is going to be out there. If there's something that's off the menu that we need to cook for someone, we will, but there's going to be so many options I don't think you're going to be able to go through everything."
