Logan Elm FB Offense Rolls in Win Over Zane Trace

The Logan Elm Braves overcame 160 yards in penalties in a 45-14 season opening win over the Zane Trace Pioneers, Friday. 135 of those penalty yards came in the first half.

Despite that, the Braves showed great improvement over last year's (1-9) record, rolling to 458 total yards and held Zane Trace to only 115 total yards in building a 26-0 lead before the Pioneers could get on the scoreboard. Logan Elm was up 32-6 at halftime, with the non-stop clock going most of the second half after originally expanding the lead to 39-6.

Braves quarterback Connor Robinson connected on 13/19 passing for 270 yards and three TD's and rushed for another. Blayton Reid rushed 16 times for 121 yards and scored twice.

Logan Elm had scoring drives of 94 yards in 9 plays, 35 yards on 3 plays, 58 yards in 4 plays, 37 yards in 3 plays, 50 yards in 7 plays and 80 yards in 7 plays.

Gabe Shanton threw for 83 yards and 1 TD on 8/18 passing. A big highlight in the game for ZT came when lineman Kyle Stonerock grabbed a fumble and ran 65 yards for a touchdown.

The Pioneers had scoring drives of 31 yards in 4 plays and the 65 yard fumble recovery score.

Both teams turned the ball over twice.

Zane Trace hosts Waverly next Friday, while Logan Elm travels to Westfall on Saturday, September 7th in the Beat Cancer Game.
