The Vinton County Air Show will be held Sunday, September 22 with all major activities beginning at 1 p.m. with the Vinton County Band performing and then the Screaming Chicken Skydiving Team will jump out of a perfectly good airplane. Shortly thereafter the aerobatic flying will begin.

Performers will be Emerson Stewart III and Brett Hunter, both from the Red Stewart Field in Waynesville, Ohio, Rob (T-Co) Lecerda from Cincinnati, and Bob Richards from Illinois. Stewart, Hunter, and Lecerda have performed at the air show in earlier years with Richards being a new performer this year.

The Screaming Chicken Skydiving Team will also close the show. If it can be arranged Santa may jump with the skydivers. At the end of the show a Candy Drop, sponsored by the McArthur Eagles, will be held for the youngsters and once visiting aircraft have departed airplane rides will begin with each seat costing $30.

BBQ chicken dinners will be ready by 11 a.m. and for $10 you will get one-half a chicken, baked beans, macaroni salad, and a roll. Soft drinks will be available.

The FFA requires that two roads, Pumpkin Ridge and Airport Road, be closed once the air show begins. They will reopen once the show is over. Pumpkin Ridge will be closed between Bethel Road and Airport Road. Access to the airport during air show hours will be from St. Rt. 328 to Airport Road. Signs will be posted with directions.

During an intermission, two members of the Motorcycle Thrill Team will attempt to set the record for the longest wheelie in Vinton County history. If they are successful that wheelie could be the entire length of the runway, about 3,700 feet.

To enter airport grounds and to park a donation of $10 per car will be requested.

The Vinton County Airport is located about five miles north of McArthur, Ohio off St. Rt. 93. Signs to the airport are posted.
