Highland County’s Bright Local School District is mourning the loss of its Superintendent. Ted Downing passed away at the age of 67 on Sunday, September 15th. He’d been with the district since 2015.
Prior to becoming the Bright School District’s Superintendent, Downing had served as the superintendent of Bridgeport Village Schools in Belmont County, and the High School Principal at Eastern Brown. Downing also formerly served as Athletic Director and High School Principal with the Greenfield Local Schools. He was also an adjunct professor at Southern State Community College.
Whiteoak High School in Mowrystown will conduct a visitation ceremony for the late Mr. Downing this Thursday, September 19th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the school.
The funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. on Friday morning, also a Whiteoak High School.
Mr. Downing was born in April of 1952 at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton. He was a 1970 Waverly High School.
He is survived by his wife, Jill (Ludwick) Downing, his two children, Chad Downing and Beth Applegate, and his five grandchildren.
