A total of seven people were taken to a Jackson area hospital on Wednesday as the result of a two-vehicle injury crash along US 35 in Jackson County.
According to the Jackson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Nichole Mullins, 37, of Jackson, had been traveling westbound along US 35, near the exit to Chillicothe Pike at around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, when the Buckeye Community Services transport van she was driving was struck from behind by a westbound semi truck, operated by Eric Trotter, 28, of Beaufort, South Carolina.
The impact forced the transport van off the left side of the roadway and into the median where the vehicle turned over on to its side. Ms. Mullins and her six passengers were taken to Holzer Medical Center in Jackson for treatment. The extent of their injuries, if any, is currently unknown.
Mr. Trotter was uninjured in the collision. He has been charged with failing to maintain assured clear distance.
