The Adena Warriors stayed alive in the SVC title hunt with a (25-22, 25-14, 25-23) win over Westfall, Tuesday at Adena High School. The Mustangs have already clinched a share of the championship, and now need a win at home vs Zane Trace this Thursday or an Adena loss at Huntington, to get the outright crown.

Adena served 10 aces on the night and kept Westfall on their heels defensively with a wide variety of attacks on the front row.

In Set #1, the Mustangs led by as much as 7-3 and as late as 15-13, before the Warriors went on a 3-0 run for a 16-15 advantage. Both teams traded two point runs for an 18-18 tie. Adena then went on another 3-0 run for a 21-18 lead, then later 22-19 and 23-20. Westfall cut the deficit to 23-22, before the Warriors closed for a 25-22 win.

Set #2 saw Adena break away from a 4-4 tie on a 5-0 run for a 9-4 lead. That lead stretched to as much as 19-7, before Westfall went on a 5-0 run to cut it to 19-12. Adena finished on a 6-2 finish for the 25-14 win and a (2-0) match advantage.

The Warriors came out strong in Set #3 with leads of 4-1, 6-2 and 11-5. Westfall cut it to 11-9, before Adena ran it up to 13-9. The Mustangs cut it 13-12. The score was tied 14-14 and 15-15, before Adena took the lead back and never trailed, despite Westfall cutting the lead to 22-21. Adena's match-point at 24-21, was answered by two straight Westfall points at 24-23, before the Warriors finished the match at 25-23 with a Jenna Martin kill.

Stats showed Adena being led by Makenna Lovely's 13 kills and 19 digs. Jenna Martin added 12 kills, 4 blocks and 3 serving aces, Ellie Harper added 7 kills, 11 digs and 2 aces. Hannah Burns had 5 kills. Sydney Fogelsong added 3 kills. Camryn Carroll had 22 digs. Olivia Riley had 10 digs and 2 aces.

Westfall got 16 kills and 3 blocks. Josie Williams had 8 kills and 15 digs, Marissa Mullins added 8 kills, Claire Latham 4 kills and 16 digs, Lauren Daniels 3 kills and 11 digs.

Westfall drops to (11-2/17-3) and still has at least a share of the SVC title. The Mustangs host Zane Trace on Thursday, where they need a win and or an Adena loss at Huntington to win the undisputed championship. The (10-3/14-7) Warriors would need a win and a Westfall loss to share the title.

94 Country WKKJ will broadcast the Zane Trace at Westfall match with airtime between 6pm-6:30pm.
