Gray Loses in State Tennis 2nd Round/Shipley Falls in Opening Round

Unioto's Sylvia Gray ended a sparkling four year high school tennis career with her fourth trip to the OHSAA State Tournament, and concluding as All Ohio for a second time.

Adena freshman Madelyn Shipley lost in first round play, Friday at the Lindner Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

Gray defeated Bella Kirby 7-6, 6-1 in her first round match, then fell to Carly Cohen beat Gray 6-2, 6-0 in the state quarterfinal.

Shipley lost 6-0, 6-0 to Rylie Hanford in round one.
