Ohio EPA to Conduct Public Hearing on Proposed Wastewater Discharge Permit

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has announced a public hearing and information session regarding a Frankfort-area company’s request for a wastewater discharge permit.

Tow Path Materials has submitted an application to state’s EPA that would cover potential wastewater discharges into Paint Creek from the company’s sand and gravel quarry.

The proposed project, if approved, could result in a change in the current water quality conditions of Paint Creek, but would not violate Ohio’s current water quality standards.

The state EPA will be considering technical, economic, social and environmental aspects of the project before deciding whether to issue or deny the permit.

To help inform the public, the agency will conduct an information session on the request tomorrow, Thursday, October 24th. It’ll begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Sunroom at the Brick in Frankfort and will be followed by a hearing to accept public comment on the permit application.

The Ohio EPA will accept written comment on the permit application through October 31st.
