Westfall and Huntington volleyball will play each other for the third time this season, only Saturday's match will be for the Division 3 District Championship. The Mustangs swept past Minford (25-15, 25-8, 25-16) while Huntington blasted Ironton (25-13, 25-9, 25-10), Wednesday at Waverly High School.

(20-3) WESTFALL OVER MINFORD (12-12)
The Mustangs got over some early stage fright after falling behind 7-2 in Set #1, going on a 6-0 run they never relinquished to take the opening set 25-15. It was in that set that Mustangs junior Kristin Phillips picked up her 1,000 career kill, on her way to a team high 14 for the match.

Westfall took early Set 2 leads of 7-1, 18-2 on their way to the 25-8 decision.

Set #3 saw them pull away from a 6-4 score, going on a 11-0 run for a 17-4 lead and finishing off with a 25-10 win and the match.

Along with Phillips 14 kills, Joesie Williams added 11 and Marissa Mullins with 10 kills and two blocks. Claire Latham had 11 digs and the Mustangs had 8 serving aces, with 4 coming from Phillips.

(17-7) HUNTINGTON SWEEPS (14-9) IRONTON
Like Westfall, the Huntsmen started slow, falling behind 4-2, but quickly took control to grab a lead of 20-8 and never looked back as they won the opener 25-13.

Set #2 had the Huntsmen darting to leads of 6-1, 10-2 and 21-6 before closing with a 25-9 win.

Set #3 was more of the same, breaking away from a 6-4 score with 11 unanswered points for a 17-4 advantage on their way to a 25-10 win.

Megan Steele pounded 12 of her team-high 20 kills in the opening set. Allison Basye provided another 12 kills, while Katie Hirsch added 5. Harmony Henneberger led the Huntsmen defense with 18 digs, while Basye has 13, Alissa Steele 11 and Megan Steele with 10.

Ironton was led by Samantha LaFon with 9 kills.

Huntington plays Westfall in the second match of Saturday's district finals triple-header. Westfall beat Huntington in five sets their first match and four in the second.
