The Southeastern Panthers stayed perfect on the season with a 40-3 win over Dayton Christian, in the Division 6/Region 24 Football Quarterfinals Friday at Southeastern High School.

While the Panthers were improving to (11-0) on the season, Paint Valley saw their season close with a 35-28 loss to Grandview Heights and Adena lost to Mechanicsburg 32-7.

SOUTHEASTERN 40, DAYTON CHRISTIAN 3
Southeastern scored on four of their first five possessions to take 32-3 halftime lead, then cruised in the second half with a continuous clock for a 40-3 win over the (8-3) Warriors of Dayton Christian.

The Panthers piled-up 408 total yards with 374 coming on the ground, while holding Dayton Christian to a total of 102 yards. Panthers quarterback Lane Ruby ran the ball 12 times for 160 yards and scored twice. One of those were from 65 yards while the other was a 17 yard run. Mikey Nusser scored twice, one from 11 yards and the other from 3 yards. He ran the ball 21 times for 112 yards and added a couple of two-point conversion runs. Dalton Thurston ran for 74 yards on 13 carries and carried three 2 point conversions. Jarrett McWhorter scored the other TD from 1 yard.

Southeastern fumbled twice and had two penalties for 20 yards. Dayton Christian's lone score came on a 33 yard field goal late in the first quarter.

Southeastern will play Covington next Friday at a neutral site, after Covington advanced with a 33-27 win over Worthington Christian. WC was a 42-41 winner over Dayton Christian earlier this season. The Southeastern vs Covington Regional Semi game site will be announced Sunday.

GRANDVIEW HEIGHTS 35, PAINT VALLEY 28
The (8-3) Bearcats fell behind 20-0, before rallying to take a 21-20 lead with eight minutes to go in the third quarter on a Cruz McFadden TD grab. That lead was short-lived, as Grandview Heights got the lead back at 28-21 after three quarters. Paint Valley tied the game at 28-28 on a Dane Miller TD catch with nine minutes left in regulation. (7-4) Grandview Heights scored the eventual winning touchdown with two minutes to play and held on for the 35-28 victory. Luke Lachey led Grandview Heights with 265 yards and four TD's on 24 carries.

MECHANICSBURG 32, ADENA 7
Adena fell behind 6-0, when Mechanicsburg drove 60 yards for the first score of the game, only to see Adena grab a 7-6 lead on a Prestpon Sykes four yard TD run and Garrett Clark PAT kick with 2:50 left in the first quarter. That's the way the score remained going into halftime.

The defense for Mechanicsburg would pitch a shut-out the rest of the game, taking the lead back for good at 12-7 with 7:13 of the third quarter. Mechanicsburg's Jake Hurst scored on an 80 yard run with :10 left in the third period, with the PAT failing for an 18-7 lead. The Warriors defense yielded two more scores in the final quarter, suffering a season ending loss at 32-7 to conclude a (8-3) campaign.
