Car Crash Damages Yoctangee Park Statue

The statue in honor of Chillicothe native and Civil War hero Colonel Richard Enderlin, was heavily damaged when a vehicle slammed into the statue pedestal Monday night.

.

Captain Ron Meyers of the Chillicothe Police Department said the crash occurred at 9pm and the driver was being cited for failure to control. No word of injury to the driver, but the statue was knocked off its pedestal and the head of the statue broke off.

.

The statue is not of Enderlin, but a bust of Enderlin is embedded on the pedestal the statue stood upon.

.

No word yet from city park officials as to what it will cost to repair the historic statue.
