Piketon blistered the Westfall defense with what seemed would be a blow-out start Friday, only to see the Mustangs claw their way back, before the Redstreaks closed strong for a 52-39 win in opening night of SVC boys basketball action.

Piketon started with leads of 11-0 and 16-2 and closed the first quarter up 16-5. But, the second quarter shifted to the Mustangs as they turned up their offense and defense to pull to within 24-21 at half.

Westfall took their first lead of the game at 25-24 midway in the third period as the lead see-sawed back and forth. The Mustangs last lead was 28-26, before Piketon went on a 10-2 run and later got up by as many as an 11 point lead at 43-32.

The Mustangs got to within 46-39 in the fourth quarter, before the Streaks put the game away at the foul line.

Brody Fuller led Piketon with 17 points with Levi Gullion adding 13 points. Westfall got 12 points from Lucas Blackburn and 10 from Hayden Lemaster.

Piketon improves to (1-0/3-3) and Westfall drops to (0-1/2-3).
