Chillicothe Christmas Tree Collection Begins January 2nd

The City of Chillicothe will be offering its annual Christmas tree pick-up service to city residents starting this Thursday, January 2nd.

Chillicothe Mayor Luke Feeney announced on Tuesday that the service will correspond to a neighborhood’s trash collection schedule. That means if your trash is collected on Monday, then you’ll want to have your tree placed outside for pick-up by this coming Monday. The service will conclude on January 17th. Residents simply need to place their tree in front of their home while being careful to not block the sidewalk, or have the tree out in the street.

Chillicothe residents also have the option of dropping their tree off at the Yoctangee Park Annex. The site will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. There will be signs posted directing you where to go.

The city is also partnering with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources again this year to put the trees back into use. The ODNR will repurpose the trees and sink them into ponds and lakes to provide habitats for fish and other wildlife.

If you have any questions, simply contact the Chillicothe City Service Department at 740-773-2700. You can also email City Service Director Jeff Carman at jeffry.carman@chillicotheoh.gov.
