A trial date has been set for one of the two teenage boys charged in the death of a Chillicothe photographer.
According to records from the Hocking County Court of Common Pleas, the criminal trial of Jaden Churchheus will take place from Monday, March 16th to Friday, March 20th.
A trial date for Churchheus’ co-defendant, Jordan Buckley, has yet to be scheduled. According to the Chillicothe Gazette, a hearing on a motion to suppress information in Buckley’s case is set to take place on Tuesday, February 4th.
The two teens are accused of causing the death of Victoria Schafer, 44, of Chillicothe, on Labor Day of 2019 by pushing a large log from the top of a ridge at Old Man’s Cave, which landed on Schafer and caused her death. They have been charged with a single-count each murder, involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault. Both have pleaded not guilty and will be tried as adults.
